Thankful Thursday

First and foremost I would like to say that I am so very thankful for the men and women who have served our country unselfishly over the years to provide freedom and protection. And that's not just for Americans, they're ordered to do this for other countries too.

Secondly, I am thankful to be an American! I know that America and American's have a bad reputation for being greedy and trying to run everything but I can't think of another country on earth I'd rather be from.  While I agree that most American's just don't realize how good we have it that doesn't mean that I'm not thankful to be an American.

We live in a country where we are blessed (or cursed) with unimaginable freedom.  We can do just about anything we want to do.  As Christians we are able to go to church in public and worship in public and not be killed.  Our women have rights as do our children.  We have a crooked government but we do have a government that provides us with resources to help us.  Although I may not agree with everything they do it is available. I could keep going but you get the point.

Thirdly, I can't do Thankful Thursday without giving props to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I'm so very thankful that I can come to Him in prayer and have a peace over me that I know He is alive and listens to me.  I'm so thankful for the Holy Spirit who is The Comforter and ministers to my heart.  Thank you to my Jesus who died for my sins and made me pure by His blood so that I, the sinner, am accepted and made whole in the eyes of God. Thank you Jesus for your love, mercy and grace!

Prayer:
I pray, in the name of Jesus, for peace to come over American's and for the Holy Spirit to minister to their hearts and open their spiritual eyes and ears to hear God's voice.  I

pray for us sinners to rise up and take a stand against the Enemy and say "enough is enough".  I ask for us to have a renewing of our minds and hearts so that the things that break Jesus' heart will break our hearts.

I pray that we ask for nothing other than what God wants for our lives. I pray for American's to allow God to lead them down the path He wants for their lives and allow His will to be done in their lives.

Thank you God for hearing me ... Amen!

Thankful Thursday

grat-i-tude
-noun
the quality or feeling of being grateful or thankful:  He expressed his gratitude to everyone on the staff.

“Gratitude is when memory is stored in the heart and not in the mind.”  -- Lionel Hampton

1.  I really don't mean to sound so cliche but I truly am grateful for Jesus dying on the cross of my sins.  This is an act of love and I did not ask for it.  Jesus did something that he did not have to do.  Of all the things that people have done or can do for me they can not top that. *thank you Jesus*

2. I'm so grateful that we have a little bit of extra cash stashed away for JD's 4th Christmas.  Each pay period my husband puts a very small amount back and I'm so glad he does because that's how JD gets his gifts.

“Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.” -- Oprah Winfrey

3.  And last but not least on this list for today, I am grateful that my mother-in-law and I get along so well.  I love that woman and she loves me.  We have always had a great relationship and I pray everyday it stays that way. *God is good*

Thankful Thursday

I was listening to J 93.3 a little bit ago and they had a segment called "Thankful Thursday".  I was very inspired because honestly this has been a pretty crappy week for me.

At 2pm this afternoon I will be a statistic.  I am one of many who is being laid off due to lack of work. The tanning salon I work for is closing the doors.  I have to file for unemployment.  I've looked for a job for quite sometime but I need something super flexible because of my husband's hours at his job and many other reasons.  On top of all that, I'm 24 weeks pregnant. I've cried for two days because it's sinking in.

So, when I heard "Thankful Thursday" I said this is perfect for a blog post! I'm going to post 5 things that I am thankful for today.  I encourage you to do the same ... I'd love to read your responses.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

Five Things I'm Thankful For Today:

1.  The Blood of Jesus -- Amen! I can come to the Father through my Jesus and call on His name.  There is power in the blood.

2. My Family -- My husband and my son, especially.  They love me regardless of how hormonal I am. They accept me.

3.  My Home -- I'm so thankful I'm not homeless.  I'm so thankful to have a bed, sheets, pillows, towels, a shower, running water that's clean.  I'm thankful that I have electricity to have heat and air condition.  No, it may not be the quality or the print that I would like, it may not be the size or the color I want but the Word of God says "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Phil 4:19)

4.  My Husband's Job -- Without my wonderful husband who is not lazy or too afraid to work we would NOT make it.  I thank God everyday Daniel has his stable job.  Thank you Jesus that you moved him around in his company so he can perform many duties.  Thank you Lord for the raises and the over time.

5.  And on a lighter note The Internet -- I just don't see how people made it without the internet. lol ... All of my friends have the internet. We send emails, we facebook, blog, play games, read the news, check the weather, etc. Everything I do is on the internet.  What did people do before this time?

So, there's my five things. I'm going to do this each Thursday from here on out. :o) That's my plan at least.
